Gaming Hardware Trends: Our 2025 Outlook

At the start of 2025 there was plenty of talk about what PC gaming would do next. From a build point of view, the useful question was a familiar one: which of these changes would actually help with the games you wanted to play?

Upscaling and frame generation

These features were becoming a bigger part of the conversation. They can help, but hardware support, game support and image quality matter. Look at ordinary rendering performance as well. A headline feature isn’t much use if the games you spend time on don’t support it.

The basic build still needs to be right

Processor, graphics, RAM, storage and cooling need to work together. Leaving sensible upgrade room can be useful. Spending a large extra amount on the chance you might need a feature years later is harder to justify. Get the PC right for its actual job first.

VR and cloud gaming

VR needs compatible hardware and a suitable headset. Cloud gaming depends on the service and your connection. They are different ways of playing, not a reason to recommend the same tower to everyone.

This is our January 2025 outlook. If you’re choosing now, talk through the current gaming PC options with HCC in Bangor. We can separate what’s useful for you from what’s simply getting attention.
